Yeah, he'll leave as soon as he builds up a reputation and popularity. Meaning that he'll depart at the exact moment that he's starting to pose any sort of threat to you.

Are you looking for a good employee, or a good friend?

I'm not actually looking for either. You're forcing me into this, remember? [Vague slosh of alcohol as he waves his glass around.]

Okay. Would you rather be blackmailed into a good employee or a good friend.

Ugh. Fine. I'll just treat him like crap until he leaves.

[rathercommon]

Um, no you won't. If you do that, I will get revenge on you.

How will you get revenge on me? And don't say that whole underage drinking thing, because you and I both know that ain't gonna work.

Excuse you! It would totally work.

No it wouldn't! I could get out of that in seconds. You realise my speciality back home was alcohol and drug charges, right?

[rathercommon]

[ An irritated scoff. But...that sounds about right, frankly. ]

I can think of other things. I'm really scheming and devious.

Uh-huh. I'm sure you are, but you know what? You don't even have to try. Your constant harassment is revenge enough.

[ What - Oh? Her eyes light up. (It's pretty cute.) ]

[Maybe he could just spend the evening shooting her down and then getting her hopes back up. That might be entertaining and adorable all in one. But eh. Too much effort.]

Yeah. Whatever. But I can and will fire him if he sucks.

[Necking back the last of his glass and reaching to top it up again immediately.]

[ She acts fast, though, snagging the bottle before he can get to it. But never fear - it's just so she can flash a grin at him and pour his glass with a practiced sort of efficiency. ]

I'm a bartender, you know. You ought to let me.

[ And then: ]

You won't regret it, really you won't. He's brilliant.

[He won't say no to being waited on, that's for sure, and once she's done with the top up he tilts his glass in her direction in vague appreciation.]

You can serve it but you can't drink it. Doesn't seem fair to me.

[ A blithe shrug. ]

That's just the law in a nutshell, isn't it. Silly and arbitrary. And ooh, people get worked up about it, too. So outraged when kids drink, like it's not just someone however-many-years-ago who decided to draw an arbitrary line.

Anyway, I'm not too sad. I don't like it.

You only don't like it 'cause you haven't had enough. Try some of this. It's high end. [Offering out his glass towards her because he's learnt nothing about giving alcohol to minors.]

It's not the taste. I don't like being tipsy. It makes me feel unsafe.

[Holding it forward for just a few more lingering seconds before drawing the glass back to himself and taking a sip.]

Being sober makes me feel unsafe.
